About Rational Registry

A registry of rational domain assets. Every asset is independently scored against five formal criteria: Signal, Scarcity, Recall, Utility, and Longevity.

Who We Are

Rational Registry is a registry of rational domain assets. We apply the formal analytical tools of academic economics to premium domain names — a class of intellectual property that has historically been valued by intuition and speculation rather than structured economic reasoning. Rational Registry establishes the standard: every listed asset carries a verifiable score across five economic dimensions.

Our work is organised across three functional desks: The Theoretical Desk, responsible for foundational research and framework development; The Analytical Desk, responsible for market analysis and empirical assessment; and The Research Unit, responsible for data-driven auditing and registry maintenance.

What We Do

We maintain an audited inventory of high-utility domain name assets -- the Verified Registry -- and publish original economic research in the Registry Journal. Every asset listed in the Registry has been independently evaluated against five formal criteria grounded in established economic theory: Market Signal, Linguistic Scarcity, Recall Efficiency, Economic Utility, and Strategic Longevity.

Our Evaluation Framework draws on the foundational work of Spence (1973), Stigler (1961), Rosen (1981), Dixit and Pindyck (1994), and Porter (1985). Scores are expressed as whole-number ratings on a ten-point scale and are published with full methodological transparency.

Our Position

Rational Registry does not operate as a domain registrar, reseller, or brokerage in the conventional sense. We are a registry of rational domain assets: our primary function is economic audit and documentation. The secondary marketplace function -- the facilitation of asset acquisition -- follows from the registry function, not the other way around. Assets are listed because they meet our evaluation criteria, not because we seek to sell them.

This distinction is material. Our credibility depends on the independence and rigour of our evaluation process. An asset that fails to meet our criteria is not listed, regardless of its asking price. Common questions about our methodology and listing criteria are addressed in the FAQ.
